About us
Dear Members and Visitors,
Welcome to the website of the French Society for Photobiology (SFPb)!
Photobiology, the study of the interactions between light and living organisms, is an exciting research field that encompasses many essential aspects of life on Earth.
From plant photosynthesis to marine photobiology, which reveals fascinating ecosystems where light plays a fundamental role, and from the effects of light on human health to its medical applications, this discipline offers a wide range of captivating topics. Our Society is dedicated to promoting research and encouraging collaborations in this dynamic field.
As a community of scientists, researchers, and enthusiasts, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and sharing our discoveries. We strongly believe that interdisciplinarity and international cooperation are essential to address the complex challenges we face.
This website has been designed as a platform for information, exchange, and collaboration. You will find scientific resources as well as information about our events and conferences. We invite you to explore these materials, join our vibrant community, and actively participate by sharing your suggestions and proposals.
For 2025, the SFPb is heavily involved in three conferences:
-
21st National Days of Photodermatology, Photobiology, and the Black Skin Thematic Group
-
21st ESP Congress, August 24–28, Bari, Italy
-
Joint meetings of the GDR Happy-Bio and the SFPb, to be held in Toulouse at the Gallais Amphitheater of the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination, October 6–8, 2025
In 2025, the SFPb will continue its support for early-career researchers and PhD students through the PhD Thesis Award. We also continue to encourage young researchers to attend national and international conferences by awarding travel grants. We strongly encourage you to apply, as your involvement contributes to the vitality of the SFPb.
